Hi, ive been doing a lot of research lately and id like to know more.. I don't care whether its personal experience or whatever, I just want to know more.

all I know, is that as a young adolescent I was "diagnosed" with PTSD and thought to have a lot of repressed memories. im trying to figure out if this is more than just PTSD/memory loss. im trying to find similarities I can connect too, to tell me if this is worth looking into more. please and thank you all for your time in reading this, I hope to hear some replies soon. :)

How do you know you have repressed memories? If a shrink told you that, it is virtually 100% BS. Do you have addictions of any kind? Destructive habits? Shrinks know nothing about alexithymia. Some have heard of it,most have not. Where did the PTSD come from?
The only connection I have with alexithymia is bad parenting and life. If you were raised to keep your feelings to yourself that can be a major cause of alexithymia. My understanding is there is primary and secondary alexithymia. There is very little out there.

PTSD ???

people who suffer from PTSD less likely to have Alexithymia because PTSD is caused by 'emotional' shock. that word is there. the repressed memory is caused by the 'fear' that is instilled and still lingers. PTSD can cause the inability to function normally in a society. anti-social or Sociopath would fit it. sociopath is a huge umbrella that touches Alexithymia

Mushroom is right- if shrink said that then it's effing lies. Alexithymia is parallel to PTSD.

my Alexithymia is probably caused by an abnormal intellect. ever since i was a child. my mind is focused in way that logic makes sense. unfortunately emotions defies logic, therefore i can barely comprehend. i am seventeen and i am currently in 2nd semester first year college. :)
