Looking for participants for online study
13.10.2017 by researcher123

Hello everybody!
I’m a researcher and I’ve already posted in this group a few weeks ago, looking for participants with Alexithymia for a study taking place in London.
Now we also have an online study, so even those of you who are not living in the UK can participate. It will take approximately 35 minutes and is compensated with a £6 Amazon voucher. Your participation would be a really big help for us as we find research in this area very important and finding enough participants is hard.
To take part, just follow this link: https://www.testable.org/t/1107721383
I'd really appreciate it if you would consider taking part!

So in your work

You will claim that you drew conclusions based on the answers of random people who participated in your questionnaire for ten dollars. This is hilarious and definitely not professional.

Of course you are way too ignorant

Because

1. There is no mental disorder called alexithymia, it is just a term describing certain symptoms. There is no meaning in researching alexithymia, because it is like researching farting.
2. Most people in this forum suffer from severe disorders, which need solutions.Providing solutions for alexithymia is like providing perfume to make something full of shit smell tolerably.
3.You already invited people to take part in your so called research and nobody responded. Now you invited people to take part in you online so called research and you probably get a few responses. Was your first method of your so called research valid or you just wish to desperately get some responses for bragging about finding something about alexithymia,as your second method implies?

Get lost you idiot.

About our research
14.10.2017 by researcher123

Thanks for your message, and apologies for any confusion over the reasons for our research. Recent published research suggests that alexithymia may explain a number of the emotional symptoms that span a wide range of disorders, so it is a clinically relevant personality trait, and understanding alexithymia itself will help researchers and clinicians to disentangle the effects of psychological disorders and alexithymia. In our analysis, we will take into account any psychological disorders that participants report. This is a different study to the one I advertised in London, and is being conducted online because people we speak to often say that they wish they could take part but live too far away - this gives more people the opportunity to take part, and makes our sample more representative. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to take part or not, and more information is provided at the link to the study. If you would like any further information on our previously published and ongoing research, please feel free to contact me or my supervisor, Dr Rebecca Brewer (Rebecca.Brewer@rhul.ac.uk).

How much

does Mrs Rebecca pay for contacting her? I would actually like a £20 gift card before learning about your findings on alexithymia.

Well

These are the findings of Mrs Rebecca on alexithymia:

"Alexithymia is a sub-clinical construct, traditionally characterized by difficulties identifying and describing one's own emotions. Despite the clear need for interoception (interpreting physical signals from the body) when identifying one's own emotions, little research has focused on the selectivity of this impairment. While it was originally assumed that the interoceptive deficit in alexithymia is specific to emotion, recent evidence suggests that alexithymia may also be associated with difficulties perceiving some non-affective interoceptive signals, such as one's heart rate. It is therefore possible that the impairment experienced by those with alexithymia is common to all aspects of interoception, such as interpreting signals of arousal, proprioception, tiredness and temperature. In order to determine whether alexithymia is associated with selectively impaired affective interoception, or general interoceptive impairment, we investigated the association between alexithymia and self-reported non-affective interoceptive ability, and the extent to which individuals perceive similarity between affective and non-affective states (both measured using questionnaires developed for the purpose of the current study), in both typical individuals (n = 105 (89 female), mean age = 27.5 years) and individuals reporting a diagnosis of a psychiatric condition (n = 103 (83 female), mean age = 31.3 years). Findings indicated that alexithymia was associated with poor non-affective interoception and increased perceived similarity between affective and non-affective states, in both the typical and clinical populations. We therefore suggest that rather than being specifically associated with affective impairment, alexithymia is better characterized by a general failure of interoception."

All in all, Mrs Rebecca suggests that alexithymics are zombies having disconnected from the environment, since they lost even the sense of hunger thirst etc. Her super results are based on random people who answered her questionnaire for ten dollars.

It is obvious that Mrs Rebecca,as well as her students, disclose the mysterious and unexplained state of alexithymia. Her innovative methods are very promising as to finding the root of the problem and finally the cure of. alexithymia. I would definitely want her to be my therapist, but not without the gift card above.

Attention to the matter is better than none at all.
No worthwhile insight was ever obtained from being ridiculed and bullied into doing nothing.
I'll participate.

Is it to late to be a part of this study

Thank you very much for your interest in participating in our study! Unfortunately this study is already finished, but we'd definitely be happy to include you in our future studies about Alexithymia!
Thanks,
